Billy Wu: Imperial College London

 
 
We talk to Billy Wu, a graduate from Imperial College London with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering. He is a PhD research postgraduate working on hybrid electric vehicle technologies within the Fuel Cell research group of the Energy Futures Lab.

Imperial College London is one of the top ranked Universities in the world. They have 14,000 students studying in science and technology related fields addressing many of the world’s most pressing issues.

What current scientific issues/ topics are your institution addressing?

My area of research looks at developing the next generation of electric vehicles to address the issue of climate change. This is done through the Energy Futures Lab which co-ordinates all energy related research at Imperial, which spans from capturing carbon dioxide from the air to making more efficient solar cells for a greener tomorrow.

Much of this revolves around education about these sustainable technologies and I’ll be presenting the work we’ve been doing to encourage students to learn more about low carbon transport through our Imperial Racing Green project where we get undergraduate students to make electric race vehicles to promote this sustainable technology.

I’m looking forward to engaging with young minds who will eventually be the future leaders.
