What is the John Innes Centre?The John Innes Centre is the worlds leading plant and microbial research centre based on the Norwich Research Park. It is an independent, international centre of excellence in plant science and microbiology. Their mission is to generate knowledge of plants and microbes through innovative research, to train scientists for the future, to apply our knowledge to benefit agriculture, the environment, human health and well-being, and engage with policy makers and the public.
What current scientific issues/ topics are your institution addressing?
Research at JIC underpins global challenges of food security, climate change and healthy aging with a strong emphasis on training hosting over 100 PhD students and many visiting workers.
